The first race of the day saw Sam Prado and Kaira Lay advance to the finals in the Women’s Youth Pair. Having fought hard in a competitive field of women they placed 3rd in their final. Following their race, Conner Alexander, Andrew Schweizer, Will Schweizer and Drew Ellis advanced the Men’s Youth Quad to finals. Having devoted months to training together the boys faced off tough competition finishing 2nd in the final and securing their bid to travel to Sarasota Florida, June 9-11, for US Rowing Youth Nationals.
WRR saw 22 athletes medal while other team members made the cut to the finals in 2 days of a very competitive racing. Youth Championships hosts nearly 1,000 athletes representing 19 teams from across Texas, Oklahoma Colorado, Arkansas and Kanas. The 2,000-meter event is held at the US Rowing National High Performance Center in OKC.
