2024 SUMMER ROWING CAMPS
LEARN TO ROW CAMP
THERE IS ZERO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY TO ENROLL IN THIS CAMP. THIS ONE-WEEK LEARN TO ROW CAMP IS A GREAT INTRODUCTION TO THE ROWING FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN TRYING A NEW AND FUN SPORT. THIS CAMP WILL FEATURE FOUNDATIONAL BASICS OF THE SWEEP ROWING STROKE IN AN 8-PERSON BOAT. THEY WILL BE TAUGHT EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO KNOW, FROM BOAT SAFETY AND HANDLING, THE TERMINOLOGY USED, THE IMPORTANCE OF ROWING AS A TEAM, AND SOME GOOD COMPETITIVE RACING AT THE END OF THE WEEK. TIME WILL BE SPENT ON LAND AND IN BOATS PRACTICING THE ROWING STROKE AND THE DETAILS OF HOW TO MOVE A BOAT EFFECTIVELY.​

WHAT TO EXPECT:
DAY 1: ALL ATHLETES ON LAND. STAFF INTRODUCTION, BOAT HOUSE TOUR, LEARNING TO SAFELY HANDLE EQUIPMENT, LEARNING THE BASIC ROWING STROKE ON THE ROWING MACHINE AND THE BOAT PLACED ON DOCK SO CAMPERS CAN PRACTICE GETTING IN AND OUT, AND TAKE ROWING STROKES.

DAY 2,3+4: ON THE WATER APPLYING THE LEARNED SKILLS TO MOVE THE BOAT EFFICIENTLY.
DAY 5: THE CAMPERS WILL SHOW WHAT THEY'VE LEARNED BY DOING SOME FRIENDLY RACING AGAINST EACH OTHER ON THE WATER FOR SHORT DISTANCES.
